Can I write off a donation from 2004?

In 2004, my husband donated a car but didn't write it off because our standard deduction was higher. This year our standard deductions are lower (due mostly to the fact that we bought a house). Can we write off that donation on this year's taxes?

No you can't. You can only write off 2007 donations on your 2007 tax return. Sorry.

Sorry, but you can only write it off in the year of the donation. Since it wasn't worth claiming it in 2004, the deduction is lost forever.

The only way to claim it is to amend your 2004 tax return. You have until 4/15/08 to do that. Hurry!!!
