Toys for Tots Car Donations?

How does the donation process work and what happens to the cars that are donated?

Usually the charity, (TFT, Goodwill, etc.), will take title to the vehicle and auction the vehicle as is. The donor then receives documentation stating what the charity received for the vehicle at the auction. The donor can then use that as a tax deduction for a charitable donation. You can no longer use the taxable value of the vehicle as a guideline for a tax deduction.

The cars are usually sent to another country where they can be easily sold. If they claim that the cars are being donated to a charity or church in that country, they go duty free.

Basically, you call them, tell them you have a car that you have the title to and they can have. They come, you sign the title to them, they take the car. If it is worth fixing, they will fix it and sell it, donating the money to charity. If not, then they will sell it to a junk yard and donate the 50 bucks they get that way to charity.
