If a man was validating her existence would the mom of the octuplets get corporate support like usual?

Usually corporations and charity groups make large donations of diapers, formula, cars, etc. when a brood of children are born. I think the media should stop sensationalizing ALL and ANY of these births because they are all achieved through the help of science. The only difference in her circumstance compared to the other people doing this is no man.

No, people are more upset with the fact that this woman is broke, was broke, and has no viable way to even support the 6 children she has already burdened the tax payers of California with. And then decides that for her own selfish reasons to bring more children into the world that she can't support.

She has bankrupted her parents, she used 168,000 in disability payments to fund her quest for a large family as opposed to supporting herself and children.

I think these corporations look at her as a bad PR candidate, and know that the public would cry foul at them for supporting her poor decisions.

no the difference is that she doesn't WORK. she has been collecting disability from the government because her back is "sooo messed up that she can't work" but she can have all of these children

no one is saying that she needs a man, but children do need TWO parents, whether it is a mother and father, two fathers, or two mothers. they need two, children from two parent household tend to fair better in life. plus, this chick is a singe mom living off the government by choice, she chose to have everyone one of those children. why should people endorse a woman having a bunch of babies when she doesn't work and can't take care of them?

and most people don't endanger the lives of their children either. when she had those six eggs implanted this time she knew that there was a chance that there could be multiples. plus, she should have selectively terminated, not because abortion is good, but because she put her life and those of all of those babies as risk when she carried them. it is good that nothing bad happened, but it is stressful enough on a woman's body to carry one or even two babies, but women are NOT meant to carry EIGHT. she could have had a heart attack, her uterus could have burst, one of the kids could have died, anything could have happened, so her behavior should not be made okay. what would have happened to the other 6 if she died? her parents are old, so how long would they be able to care for them?

this woman is very selfish and she should be ashamed of herself, because her children didn't deserve this and neither did her parents, who should be enjoying retirement not being babysitters and going bankrupt to care for her and her brood

I think so, yes.

The whole issue with Suleman is that people are upset that, in this time of financial instability, she chooses to attempt to raise 14 children. Some think that this is selfish of her, and that there is no way to do it without the help of charity, welfare, etc. Maybe if she were in another country that wasn't a capitalist, material crazy, rent seeking one, she would have a chance.

Yes, she will need help, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritially. (and I don't necessarily mean religion). I do believe the fact that she does not have a husband does play a vital role in the situation. Her family is not the "American Dream", of husband, wife, 2.5 kids, etc, but neither is a fraction of America's. I don't think the story would be as entertaining, and lend room for as much criticism from strangers if she had a spouse. There are several television shows featuring families of multiples (John and Kate plus eight, 18 and counting, etc), so the issue is not how many children.

I agree with you that the media needs to get over this woman...but I don't agree that it's about no man....

Normally an IVF birth is not like this...the doctor was very irresponsible to place 6 embryos in anyone...especially one in her circumstances (assuming he knwe about it)

but I don't think it would be any different if she had a man in her life...it would be the "octo-parents" instead of "octo-mom" that's all.
